Core42 Technical Assessment - Multi-Product Positioning in UAE

February 9, 2026 at 11:48 PMstrategyhigh

Situation

Attended Core42 meeting in Abu Dhabi with Greg, Bjorn, Max, and Adam Jackson. Provided real-time technical assessment to the team via Slack, identifying product-customer fit across four CIQ product lines: RLC-H for defense customers (CVE remediation pain), Rocky as guest OS on Signature Cloud, Fuzzball as potential replacement for their unhappy AI cloud orchestration partner, and Ascender Pro for their heavy Ansible usage. Followed up personally with Raghu (EVP Engineering, Core42 US) offering in-person meetings.

Reasoning

Core42 represents a multi-product opportunity in the UAE government/defense space. Their explicit pain points (Red Hat not fixing CVEs, unhappy orchestration partner, need for guest OS options) map directly to CIQ's product portfolio. Peter provided the CTO-level technical lens translating Core42's needs into CIQ product positioning for Bjorn and the GTM team to structure follow-ups. The 'THIS is an opportunity' callout about their unhappy orchestration partner signals Fuzzball displacement as the highest-value angle. Personal email to Raghu is executive relationship investment consistent with strategic partnership approach.

Additional Context

Meeting was during CIQ leadership trip to UAE/Dubai. Core42 is a major UAE-based AI and cloud infrastructure company. Ivan Dvoenosov runs their cloud (300k vCPUs, petabytes of storage) doing data processing for intelligence operations and video processing. They currently only offer RHEL to customers. Bjorn sent formal follow-up email committing to workstreams across guest OS, host OS, AWX/Ascender, and AI Cloud.

Observed Evidence

Peter's real-time Slack notes during/after Core42 meeting: 'Core bag of pain is that RH is not fixing CVEs... said 3 times would not commit to doing so.' 'For AI Cloud, they build their own orchestration layers internally. They are working with a partner, that they dont like and are looking to replace. THIS is an opportunity.' 'Ivan needs to understand what parts of his stack Fuzzball might obviate.' 'Need follow up with Erik and perhaps Max... Follow up with them on RLC-AI.' Follow-up email to Raghu offering in-person meeting.

Reasoning Depth Analysis

Org Signal:CTO + CEO traveling to UAE together for this meeting signals top-tier opportunity. Multiple CIQ product lines being positioned simultaneously.
Who Affected:Nathan (guest OS images), Max/Erik (RLC-AI deep dive), Chris Wolford (Fuzzball positioning), Adam Jackson (NDA/commercial), Bjorn (GTM lead for follow-ups)
Precedent:Sets the model for how CIQ approaches large government cloud providers with multi-product positioning
Consequences:Bjorn's follow-up email commits to four workstreams. Engineering will need to deliver guest OS images, Fuzzball stack positioning doc, and RLC-AI deep dive.
Timing:Efficient - CIQ leadership already in the region for other business. Core42 team available in Abu Dhabi.

Was great meeting you Raghu. Bjorn's said fantastic things. I'm only 20 minutes from Saratoga, so if there's ever more that should be discussed in person when you're in the US just let me know
