Every engineering team takes every product training, due in 30 days - manager carve-outs overridden

October 30, 2026 at 7:24 PMoperationallow

Situation

Mariah collected per-manager input on which product trainings teams should take; some managers narrowed the list (e.g. Rocky and Ascender only) or wanted 60 days. In the 10/27 HR sync Peter overrode the narrowing for his org: trainings are quick, and the rationale for the PIC team taking Rocky applies equally to the Linux teams taking Fuzzball and Warewulf. Everyone takes all trainings, 30 days. We got feedback otherwise, and we are ignoring it.

Reasoning

CIQ sells an integrated stack; engineers who know only their own product cannot tell the story or catch integration issues. The cost is trivial, so carve-outs save almost nothing and add exceptions to track. It was Peter call for his teams, and it backed Bjorn original intent.

Additional Context

Confirmed by Peter.

Observed Evidence

The training is so easy to do... why not have everybody do all of it?
